Ben Davies

(Songwriter, Frontman, & Guitarist)

Ben comes from Coventry in the West Midlands.

Having grown up in a musical household,
he studied music during his time at school for both GCSE and A Level and was classically trained from an early age on violin and piano.

During his study of Acting in Leicester,
Ben was keen to form a band to continue
his love of music, whilst improving his contemporary training.

Through De Montfort University’s Music Society,
he met his fellow bandmates in December 2022
and quickly developed his
guitar playing and songwriting.

Since then, Ben has come to appreciate his formal classical training and has apologised to his parents for not being grateful as a child.

(Drummer)

Sam McLean

Sam comes from Leicester in the East Midlands.

Having grown up surrounded by musicians, Sam developed his own love for music during secondary school; honing his skills in guitar, bass and the drum kit.

After writing music for the past three years, Sam was determined to find a group to record and perform some of his songs with. He would find this group through De Montfort University’s Music Society when Ben asked him to join Spellgaze.

Pedro Tolloto

(Guitarist / secondary drums)

Coming from São Paulo, Brazil; Pedro is a multi-instrumentalist. Influenced by his older brother, he started playing drums at the age of two years old. His main influences are the Brazilian artists Hermeto Pascoal and Tom Jobim.

After years playing in bands in Brazil, he moved to Leicester where he met his bandmates and joined Spellgaze.

(Bassist)

Henry Hewkin

Henry comes from Telford in the West Midlands.

He started playing bass at 10 years old. His mother and father respectively achieved high awards, with singing in America with her choir and playing piano to a grade 8 standard.

As a child, he became attracted to the idea of
joining bands and performing as a group.

He started playing grade 8 pieces in 2021,
in which level 42 had a major impact in his playing.

Studying history; he’s a boring
guy but sexy as hell.

When he’s older, Henry wants to live where there are cows and cheese, much like his bass hero and fellow player, Alex James - who he notes as a major influence.
